These products are to be used whenever you need a heavy duty rust preventive system with a firm or
hard coating. These products are often applied as a corrosion inhibitor sealant to protect painted parts, machines and surfaces from attack in severe environments.

This extremely effective corrosion inhibitor system provides two to three times the protection compared to the average rust preventative and is excellent as a sealant over black oxide coatings and phosphates because it seals out corrosion and enhances the color of the finish. Corrosion performance of over 2000 hours humidity cabinet and over 336 hours salt spray. It can also be used on bare metal surfaces for long term storage or overseas shipment. SafeGard was the best product tested in a recent six-sigma rust prevention study run at Caterpillar Tractor. SafeGard M-1 meets the performance requirements of military specification Mil-C-16173 grade-1.
SafeGard M-1 rust preventative can be applied to wet or dry parts by dip coating, brushing or low pressure spraying. The thin bodied liquid rapidly penetrates recessed area and displaces moisture from metal surfaces. Supplied as a cream colored liquid, it dries in 10-30 minutes leaving a dry to the touch, hard wax film of 1.5-2.0 mils thickness which actually improves the finish color. Product coverage is 650 square feet per gallon.
Once applied it will not drain off parts or wick off into packaging materials. SafeGard M-1 is the ideal protection for all bare metal or finished metal parts including tooling, fixtures, dies, tool holders, milling cutters, sprockets - virtually any metal part subject to corrosion.
